Mas Irene 2018
An organic merlot wine, concentrated and voluptuous with a view to the future
To make this great red wine we have chosen the merlot from the Cal Miret estate for its voluptuousness and concentration in jam. The small percentage of cabernet franc rounds off its coupage, giving it greater structure and ageing capacity.
Like all the women in the family, the eldest daughter of Joan and our winemaker María Elena, Irene Cusiné, also has a wine named after her. Mas Irene is dedicated to her, and to all women who, like her, forge the path they desire by overcoming obstacles and pursuing their dreams.
Microvinification. Mas Irene is only made in the best vintages.

Tasting Note
Sight | Intense garnet colour with a high black robe. The colour of the disc does not yet show signs of evolution. |
---|---|
Nose | Great intensity and complexity on the nose with aromas of candied red fruits well blended with a touch of high-quality toast. |
Mouth | In the mouth it is smooth and oily, with wonderful amplitude and power that denotes its great structure. Intense aromas of forest fruits combined with spices and toasted notes from the barrel. Pleasant finish with a long persistence. |
"Pure flavour, mineral and leafy notes. A fruity sensation that is more than original. We would even speak of inner beauty, of a blend of grapes that is sometimes fantastic and sometimes great. An essential wine".

Absolutely world class. This is one of a kind. We might be in front of the best wine on this planet. Majestuous

like many Pares Balta wines Mas Irene is a very different and special wine. It is one of the those very rare wines you drink where you can taste and smell the naturalness. Completely different from the world of dominated commercial mass produced homogenised wines. Its clean, its pure and exquisite. Very smooth dark black ink with tones of the local minerals. If you understand about good wines and have the talent to spot special local wine then you have found one here. Excellent.

Its intensity somehow comes across unstructured and leaves one with a feeling: Ok, but could also have something else..
