Hisenda Miret wins a Gold Medal at the International Competition Grenache du Monde 2016

The 4th edition of the International Competition of the Best Grenache du Monde organized by the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Roussillon and held the 5th of February, took as the only Penedès wine awarded with a Gold Medal, the Hisenda Miret 2013, one of the insignia wines from Parés Baltà winery.

The International Competition Grenache du Monde recognizes and appreciatesGrenache wines all over the world in all its varieties, confronting wines that have a prevailing assemblage of Grenache (60% or more). Grenache is a variety with a Spanish origin (Catalonia and Aragon), and it is the most present grape in the world with 200,000 hectares planted. This figure contrasts with the nearly 160 hectares planted in Penedès region.

Regarding Parés Baltà, the Gold Medal obtained by Hisenda Miret 2013, places us as the only Penedès wine that awarded with this distinction among all the winning wines. With a monovarietal Red Grenache wine aged for seven months in Allier French oak barrels, it is one of the flagship wines of the cellar. Its grapes come from a vineyard located in Cal Miret (St. Martí Sarroca) and planted over 30 years ago by Joan Cusiné Hill, the pioneer of the Cusiné family. He was born in a family of winemakers and opted firmly for the cultivation and the recovery of native varieties. It was in 2003, with the arrival of the two young skilled women, Maria Elena Jiménez and Marta Casas that Hisenda Miret was developed. With the application of new knowledge to the vineyards and the green harvest, they managed to concentrate Grenache grape color with a structured body with a high capacity of aging. Thus, the result is a structured red wine, elegant, subtle, with complex aromas dominating the red wild fruits in the nose while leaving hints of spices and hints of toast.

Hisenda Miret 2013 was also awarded with a Bronze Medal at the International Organic Wine Challenge Millésime Bio, held last January in Montpellier, France. This competition is associated with a fair held in the same location, which recognizes producers of organic wines located around the world. The elaboration of our wines and cavas is organic and we practice biodynamic agriculture; being the kind of agriculture that is more respectful with the environment.
